This project can help people in a lot of ways one person could have ever imagined. Itââ¬â¢s a multi-purpose and an all-in-one invention. So what are you waiting for? Why not make one now? Background of the Study The Magnet motor (or magnet engine) free energy generator is a decent, powerful and well-looking topology of a free energy generator. It works on a principle of the powerful neodymium permanent magnets. When the magnetic force reaches the necessary level to overcome the friction, the motor RPM ramps up and reaches the equilibrium value. We will write a custom essay sample on Electromagnetism and Free Energy Generator or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In the ordinary motor, the magnetic field is generated by the electric coils, usually made of copper (Cu) or sometimes aluminum (Al). Because both copper and aluminum are not superconductors (their resistance is not zero), the ordinary electric motor continuously needs the electric power to maintain the magnetic field. I repeat: The ordinary motor needs not only the initial energy, but the continuous supply of energy! The coils are wasting the power, turning it into a heat, because of their resistance. The electric energy has to continuously flow into the system, compensating the energy losses. The Magnet motor has no coils and thus no power losses and can be used even as a free energy generator. It is using the permanent magnetic field of the magnets to generate the force moving the rotor. For a long time, the magnet motor was only a theoretical concept, because the old ferrite magnets were too weak to generate enough magnetic force to form a practical engine, operable in real world. In last years, much more powerful magnets the neodymium magnets came and enabled the practical construction of the old theoretical concept. This is how the Magnet motor free energy generator came into the world. The disadvantage of the magnet motor is that it cannot be controlled electrical way. You can not shut it down the solid state way, eg. By switching a transistor, triac or solid state relay off. The RPM control is also problematic in this kind of motor. On the other hand, there are much more advantages than disadvantages. The biggest advantage is no need for external source of electric power and thus a very cheap operation. This predetermines this motor for construction of the free energy generator units. The practical model of this generator is relatively easy to build. All you need is a suitable set of neodymium magnets. Today, the Nd magnets can be easily bought. Small magnets can be salvaged from an old hard drive. Very small neodymium magnets can be found even in the CD or DVD drive focusing system. To build the Magnet motor free energy generator, the parts of an ordinary electric motor can be used. The Magnet motor free energy generator is suitable for generating low to high power levels. The maximum power output is much higher than the maximum of the Electric loop free energy generators. The Magnet motor free energy generator is also much better-looking, thus fulfilling also the decoration function. The construction of the Magnet motor free energy generator is, on the other hand, more complicated than the Electric loop system. To generate useful electricity, you have two options: First option is using the coils of the electrical motor used as a basis of the Magnet motor. This is the easier case, but your motor has to have enough space for both the magnet set and the coil windings. Second option is to connect the Magnet motor mechanically with an ordinary generator. You can directly bond the shafts or use a belt gear. The second version of the Magnet motor free energy generator is capable of generating more power, but also more complicated to build. The advantage of the second version is that you can remove the coils from the original motor, thus getting much more space for the magnets. This allows much more torque to be generated. Statement of the Problem The study discusses that there is a way on how to make an unstoppable electricity to imply saving money, use for some purposes and to help other people especially those who have financial problems. Henceforth, the following question should be answered: 1. Is there a way to save electricity? 2. Is there a way to use electrical materials even if thereââ¬â¢s no electricity? 3. Is there really a way? 4. Is this project really helpful to people? 5. What can this contribute to our lives today? Significance of the Study This investigatory project weââ¬â¢ve made is very important to us especially to those people who wanted to save or who are in need of electricity. This project that we are about to do can help us save money because it does not need any oil/gasoline/wood. It can also be a big help to us especially when we ran out of electricity (brown outs, black outs etc. ). This project can help us use electrical components such as bulbs withy out any consumption and bills needed. By having this as our investigatory project, we can contribute to our fellow Filipinos an alternative yet unstoppable source of electricity without any hassles. All you need to do is to make our project in advance by reading, following and doing the steps and kaboom, you now have this. By also making this, we can also help people who canââ¬â¢t afford to have their connection because of their own private problems (i. e. financial). As we successfully make this project, we assure you that it can help lots of people who are really in need of this invention because this thing is the next modern equipment to be use and it is an eco-friendly one. We grab this idea so that we can help our own country and that we can reduce the populations of trash items that can affect our health because almost all of the materials needed in order to do this can just be from recycled. By this, people can also enjoy free source of electricity. Although this is small and it can only produce small value of voltages, through this project, maybe professional people can get ideas through here by developing and molding our project into a better one. Scope and Limitations of the Study We chose this study simply because this study is our best option and it can help lots of people especially those who were in need. I mean who would not be happy to help right? It also does not cost too much. The fan, though itââ¬â¢s simple, can be turned into an unstoppable source of power supply. Can someone imagine that a simple yet a small fan from the CPU can give us a power only that wonââ¬â¢t stop until you wanted it to stop? Thanks to one of our group mate that came up to this idea, we know that the people would like this because it is a big use to us especially right now. The Philippines is still facing the catastrophe and up to now, lots of people havenââ¬â¢t moved on especially on the Visayan part. This project of ours can help them, weââ¬â¢ve been studying this for almost a month and we are about to finish this successfully. We only limit when our topic when itââ¬â¢s beyond its limits but we are trying our best to scope all of it. Chapter II Review of Literature The topic mainly focuses on the mini fan that was found on CPU. In here, you can find out that this project gives us electricity though the voltages arenââ¬â¢t that high to sustain some normal gadgets/appliances. This project uses the wonders of magnetic motors. It works on the principal that magnetism can be used to create a continuous motion machine. In other words, the idea is that magnetic properties can create a movement that continues endlessly. At this time, most of the machines created using this principle have utilized rotary motion meaning most of them are circular. According to Joseph Henry (the one who discovered and studied magnetism and saw a change that makes currents flow) ââ¬Å"Magnetism is one of the phenomena by which materials exertâ⬠meaning it only happens when a thing is being talked about, when positive and negative exists. Though some people mistakenly believe that a magnetic motor is the same as a regular motor or generator that uses a magnetic force to change electrical energy into mechanical energy well here is the real explanation. In truth, they are two very different things. Unlike the regular motor, the free energy magnetic motor creates movement without any form of electrical energy or movement needed to keep it running. His theory is true, everything that was said are absolutely positive. Therefore, it is sometimes referred to as a motionless electromagnetic generator. Conceptual Framework Hypothesis Maybe if the magnets circulate smoothly and faster than its constant speed, thereââ¬â¢s a possibility that it can produce higher voltages and can be use for some appliances/gadgets etc. that also needs higher voltage in order to be charged or used and when it circulate slower, the voltage it produces lessen. Definition of Terms The term electromagnetic refers to one of the four fundamental interactions in nature, the other three being the strong interaction, the weak interaction, and gravitation. This force is described by electromagnetic fields, and has innumerable physical instances including the interaction of electrically charged particles and the interaction of uncharged magnetic force fields with electrical conductors. Electromagnetic coil is a conductor (usually an insulated solid copper wire) that is wound around a core or form to create an inductor or electromagnet. When electricity is passed through a coil, it generates a magnetic field. One loop of wire is usually referred to as a turn or a winding, and a coil consists of one or more turns. Voltage has an electrical potential difference, electric tension or electric pressure (e. g. electricity) Current is the flow of electric charge. Rotary motion means the act of rotating as if on an axis. Chapter III Methodology How to make Materials a computer fan rectifier ( 1 diode + 1 capacitor) load (one resistor and LED) battery Procedure in making the fan rotate first: A computer fan can be used to build a small prototype of the magnet motor. You can se the motor before disassembly (left) and after disassembly (right). The magnets placed into the directions of the coils. The magnet motor running, needing no electric power. Note: The coils dont need the electric power any more. The can generate it! But remember, this is a very small unit, so only a little power can be generated. In case you need only the wind from the fan, you can cut the cable. Another prototype of the magnet motor, with the magnets attached using a sticky tape, forming a portable unit. Procedure in using the fan to make the LED light up: Summary: 1. Open the fan. 2. Solder a wire in pin 2 and pin 3 of the 4 pin chip. Those are your coil outputs 3. Take the 2 coil outputs and run through a diode bridge rectifier. 4. Hook up you load in the rectifier output. Detailed Instruction: Step 1: Open the fan by removing the c shaped ring. If itââ¬â¢s taking you more than 10min to open it, the odds are you have a fan that way too hard to open; the best way to do is to look for another one. Each fan manufacturer has their own design and some are just way too hard to open. Step 2: Now that the fan was opened, you want to tap the coil start and end, and tap. Other people found hard to find the coil start end, but when you find it, thereââ¬â¢s a 4-pin component with writing 276: Itââ¬â¢s a ââ¬Å"UH276, Complementary Outputs Hall Effect Latch IC. The typical wiring diagram of a computer fan ââ¬â called a brushless DC fan. Hereââ¬â¢s the typical application of the UH276: Based on the typical circuit, solder a wire to pin 2 and one to 3 of the IC 276. Those 2 wires you just soldered are your coil + and coil -. The magnet had enough force to hold the blades in place because you did not touch anything about the magnets so itââ¬â¢s okay. Step 3: Take the 2 coil wires you just soldered and input into the rectifier. For simplicity a 1/2 wave rectifier is enough. It uses one diode and one capacitor. Almost any diode would work (e. g. 1N4148), 10uF. You may experiment with different cap values. Step 4: The activation voltage for the blue LED is higher than the red. So start with the red LED first. How to test The investigatory project that the research team worked with can be successfully done only if the wiring is connected to the corresponded hole. If not, it will fail. However, there is an assurance that the research teamââ¬â¢s investigatory project will work because they are skilled and familiar when it comes to electronics. The research team made this investigatory project possible only through adding the laws of Science and Electronics. This project does not only teach people how to conserve electricity but also it teaches them to recycle materials that are no longer needed CHAPTER 4 RESULTS AND FINDING: This is an illustration that compares between battery and the fan by its consumption. The bar graph here basically states that if a person uses our invention, which is obviously the CPU fan turned into a small generator, you can not only save energy but also money. Chapter 5 Summary Do you guys know what is this small thing that can supply our need when it comes to energy and can help us save money? Well, the answer can only be found in the Central Processing Unitââ¬â¢s part (CPU), which is basically the Fan. The research team studied about how they can make this happen. They kept researching about the parts and the usage of the Fan, and finally they found out that they can put some science and techno combined to produce a good invention. This invention will enlighten those future researchers and those people who are curious to make this project more of the next idea and design of the future generation that can save our consumption and also our nature. Conclusion Therefore, we, the researchers conclude, that a small things and a junk items can be the biggest and helpful things that can be found in our house, just add the knowledge of Science and Technology, you can create a small fan from the CPU as the energy producer, and by this you can save your consumption and the nature as well. Recommendation The research team recommends you to use new proven invention. Itââ¬â¢s not only for you to save energy but also to save your daily consumption and our nature as well. And one thing is for sure that this invention is very portable and flexible, you can use it anytime/anywhere. Acknowledgement First and foremost, my group would like to express our sincere gratitude to God because we finally made this through. Without Him, this wouldââ¬â¢ve never been finished. Thanks to his encouragement and support. Secondly, to our dear instructor, Ms. Rotche S. Lamban who gave us this golden opportunity to do this project. Without her, this would have never been accomplished. We are really grateful to you because this was made successful. Compare the pre-titles sequences of two James Bond films- Goldfinger and Goldeneye Essay Example
Compare the pre-titles sequences of two James Bond films- Goldfinger and Goldeneye Paper There has been a large change in society in terms of excitement for the audience. The old film Goldfinger, and the more recent Goldeneye, are films to suit two different types of audience. Over the past thirty years, there have been higher expectations within the action film industry such as action, humour and stunts. The two James Bond films have many similarities because they are the same theme. The classic opening with the barrel of the gun and blood down the screen are in every James Bond film. It is almost a trademark. Another trademark is the theme tune in both films. People know what the film is just from the theme tune because of its large popularity. The action scene at the beginning is to attract the audience interest and attention. It shows the kind of action to expect. For example, in Goldeneye the start has many stunts such as the bungee or plane. Therefore, it will have lots of stunts later through the film. James Bonds personality is the same. His charm and witty puns is what attracts people to him. The style of his clothes such as his smart white tuxedo makes the audience still familiar with the same type of James Bond. We will write a custom essay sample on Compare the pre-titles sequences of two James Bond films- Goldfinger and Goldeneye specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Compare the pre-titles sequences of two James Bond films- Goldfinger and Goldeneye specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Compare the pre-titles sequences of two James Bond films- Goldfinger and Goldeneye specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer Because he is a ladys man he is admired by both woman, for being attractive, and men, for his exceptional charm with any woman. His similarities with woman are also in the title sequence. The actions of the women give a sort of prologue for the film. As well as many similarities there are also many differences. The technology in the films is very different. They supply an expectation from the audience because they usually get the high-tech gadgets. The action is also different especially the stunts. More modern films such as Goldenye have more thrilling and ambitious stunts. This is done by new technology and graphics. Societys cloths have changed in the past thirty years. In Goldfinger, James Bond wears a wet suit which covers his tuxedo. In Goldeneye he wears a stealthy black outfit for infiltration. The plots of the films have also changed. The bad person in Goldenye is a classic villain who paints his dead victims gold (to go with his name). In Goldenye it has a good agent who seems to be killed. However, the film later reveals that he is actually the main villain. This twist in the film gives a greater excitement to the audience. The directing of James Bond is different. In Goldfinger his moves with a hop, skip and a jump. He has a hand to hand fight with a bad person. These basic actions are what would be expected from a film thirty years ago. However, today it would be seen as boring to the audience. In Goldenye, James Bond sneaks around the facility with a silence pistol. When his cover is blown they end up shooting lots of guards. The large amounts of violence from the deaths of the guards help to fill up the audiences excitement. When his fellow agent is killed which makes it even more interesting James Bond is left pinned with many guns aiming at him. As well as excitement it also builds tension as the audience wonder what he is going to do. To finish the pre-title opening, he rides over a cliff into a plane. Before the title sequence there is a large explosion. All these different actions and violence give a greater thrill. The light and camera angles are also used to entertain the audience. In Goldfinger the scene is done under the cover of darkness. Although in Goldenye it is done during the day. This is to make the scene look more dangerous as he will be more easily seen. This builds up tension for the audience. He meets the other agent in a dark storage room to show the stealth of the mission. The stealth makes it look even more exciting. Camera angles in Goldfinger are mainly focused on him. James Bonds facial expressions are used to emphasise action and danger. The camera angles on Goldeneye are focused on him and the surrounding area. The close up shots is used to create the feelings of tension with facial expressions. The far out shots indicate danger and large action scenes. For example, the far out shot of the dam in Goldenye shows the danger James Bond has to do. When the camera looks over the dam to show the great height it makes the audience nervous from looking at the great height. There are far more camera angles in the modern film with quicker shots. This is used to build up the tension and excitement in the audience. For example, when James Bond is running along the dam there are many angles. These are focused from a side to show his action, at his feet to show the pace of his running and his body from a far out shot to show the distance of his running. These fast camera shots are used to build up the excitement. There are no camera angles on his face to help create mystery. Because it does not show his face the audience cannot be completely sure it is James Bond. The only sound in the film is the running of his feet which also create tension. In Goldfinger, there are only a few camera angles which change over a longer time. This does not create as much excitement and tension in the audience. They are mainly further out shots so the shot captures more of James Bond from one angle. The camera angles was not as important in that time as society had a lower expectation for action and thrill. The title sequences of the two films are different because of the change in society. There are naked woman in Goldeneye because it entertains the audience more. It is now seen as acceptable in society to show woman naked because of the more lax nature. There are dressed woman in Goldfinger but are wearing revealing cloths. The film has tried to make the woman as naked as possible without overstepping the boundaries of society. People have higher expectations in Goldeneye than in Goldfinger. They want more killing, violence and stunts. This is to give the audience an all round thrill. The action in the film is represented with music to give an audio perspective. The music is usually the James Bond theme so people can always associate it with action and excitement. As well as expectations of the film, people also have expectations of James Bond. They want him to have action, humour as well as some sexual content. This is because it is what the audience have previously seen from James Bond and enjoys his personality. His classic speech of Bond, James Bond is well known and used by every actor to identify him as James Bond. The technology in both films has gadgets, cars and woman. This is the usual from James Bond and is admired by men as they are boys toys. The technology has to keep up with society. In Goldfinger, James Bonds explosive was on a timer like a clock. In the more recent Goldfinger, the explosive were on a more modern digital timer. Technology is very important in James Bond especially in later films. Goldenye is based on advanced technology such as the helicopter and satellite. As the technology has improved in the film it has also improved out of the film. More advance graphics means that the action and stunts can be even wilder. Blue screening makes the film and action better as they can add scenes where they have never been. This was done in Star Wars to add different scenes and other worlds. If the two films were made at the same time, the plot would be different but the technology similar. Both Goldfinger and Goldeneye were able to satisfy society in their time. However as technology and stunts improve people want to see more action and excitement. Both the films have action in the pre-title sequences although the action is much better in the more recent Goldeneye than Goldfinger.

History Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 16
History - Essay Example nce and Technology were taking place, there were a lot many uncertainties pertaining to the stability and political administration of various kingdoms across Europe. It wonââ¬â¢t be an exaggeration to say that progress and prosperity came to a halt, if not a decline, during this period primarily due to rampant warfare, theological uncertainty and natural calamities. The Great Famine of the early fourteenth century and the subsequent Black Death (the mysterious epidemic breakout) nearly reduced the European population by one thirds. Given the backdrop of this catastrophe, one can understand the stagnation of fine arts; as at this time basic survival proved a challenging proposition in itself. Other contributors to a general social unrest during this era included collective rebellion of the peasants, witnessed especially in France and England. The other conflict on a larger scale was the notorious Hundred Yearsââ¬â¢ War. But the most destabilizing event during the period was the decline in authority of the Catholic Church, due primarily to internal disagreements between different denominations. Hence, the Late Middle Ages were a period of chaos, confusion and listless in many aspects. Yet, much of Europe had endured these tough times and had managed to keep the uniqueness of its civilization intact, till the advent of Renaissance, wherein the dormancy of European culture gave way to a new blooming. What prevented Europe from sinking into the abyss of the Dark Ages that was suffered by kingdoms in the Mediterranean, was the continued progress seen within the faculties of arts and sciences, albeit at a less vigorous pace. The most critical element of the artistic preservation and improvement during this era came in the form of a revival in ancient historical texts, especially the ones left behind by the Great Roman Empire. In effect, the founding principles of the Renaissance are to be found within this historical framework. While resources were being made

Relationship between the physical body and the technology Essay
Relationship between the physical body and the technology - Essay Example Relationship between the physical body and the technology ââ¬Å"The nineteenth century demanded the functional specialization of man and his work; this specialization makes one individual incomparable to another â⬠¦, however, this specialization makes each man the more directly dependent upon the supplementary activities of all othersâ⬠(Simmel, 1903). Surveillance strategies were enacted to negotiate pay or to track wages. This dictated the impersonal ordering of the clock, engendering feelings of alienation as the individual perceived themselves different from, yet the same as, their co-workers, yet had no room to explore this difference. Explorations into this mechanized realm produced the phantasmagorical, characterized by fantastic imagery and incongruous juxtapositions. Through this imagery of the Dada, Surrealism and Letterism movements, the Situationists Movement arose, providing ââ¬Å"their critique of modern culture, their celebration of creativity, and their stress on the immediate transformation of everyday lifeâ⬠(Marshall, 2000). ââ¬ËEverydayââ¬â¢ life, they maintain, deadens the mind into numb acceptance, while exploration of the surreal awakens subjectivity. This led to the concept of psychogeography as part of the system of unitary urbanism or ââ¬Å"the study of specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individualsâ⬠(Situationnise Internationale, 1958).

Ethical Delimas Facing a Profession Essay Example for Free
Ethical Delimas Facing a Profession Essay Healthcare professionals often face complex ethical dilemmas in the workplace. These dilemmas often arise when employment obligations conflict with personal beliefs. An ethical dilemma that is becoming more common in the workplace involves emergency contraception. Emergency contraceptives or morning-after pills are a fiery topic. Some pharmacists are refusing to dispense morning-after pills because it is against their beliefs. Imagine yourself in the position of needing this medication. Should the beliefs of the pharmacist outweigh your rights as the patient? For me, the answer would be a resounding no. According to The Code of Ethics for Pharmacists (Pharmacist. com, 1994), adopted by the membership of the American Pharmacists Association October 27, 1994, ââ¬Å"Pharmacists are health professionals who assist individuals in making the best use of medications. This Code, prepared and supported by pharmacists, is intended to state publicly the principles that form the fundamental basis of the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists. These principles, based on moral obligations and virtues, are established to guide pharmacists in relationships with patients, health professionals, and society. â⬠The Code of Ethics further states, ââ¬Å"A pharmacist promotes the right of self-determination and recognizes individual self-worth by encouraging patients to participate in decisions about their health. In all cases, a pharmacist respects personal and cultural differences among patients. A pharmacist avoids discriminatory practices, behavior or work conditions that impair professional judgment, and actions that compromise dedication to the best interests of patients. This guideline clearly states the responsibilities and duties of the pharmacist are to serve the needs of the patient even when doing so contradicts their personal beliefs. In some states, legislators are introducing bills that would grant pharmacists the right to refuse (refusal clauses also known as conscience clauses) to dispense drugs related to contraception on moral grounds. Other state legislators are introducing legislation that would require pharmacies to fill any legal prescription for birth control. NCSL Health Program, 2011) APhA has had a policy supporting a pharmacistââ¬â¢s conscience clause since 1998. APhAââ¬â¢s two-part policy supports the ability of the pharmacist to step away from participating in activity to which they have personal objectionsââ¬âbut not step in the way. The Association supports the pharmacistââ¬â¢s right to choose not to fill a prescription based on moral or ethical values. But recognizing the pharmacistââ¬â¢s important role in the health care system, APhA supports the establishment of systems to ensure that the patientââ¬â¢s health care needs are served. Pharmacist. com, 1994) When it comes to ethics or morality, arguments and counterarguments will never cease. If a personââ¬â¢s religious objections to emergency contraception interfere with their ability to do their job, then they shouldnââ¬â¢t be in that profession. Refusing to do your job because your conscience wonââ¬â¢t allow it comes with consequences that you must accept. Businesses and society cannot function if people are able to ignore rules, regulations, standards, and laws on the basis of ââ¬Å"conscienceâ⬠or religious desire.

Carl Sandburgs View of Language Essay -- Poem Poet Essays
Carl Sandburg's View of Language Carl Sandburg's poem Languages is a poem about how languages can change over time. On the surface level, it compares the evolution of language to the formation of a river. At the same time, however, it makes a statement on why languages are difficult to label and mark. The lines dividing languages blur very easily. Languages There are no handles upon a language Whereby men take hold of it And mark it with signs for its remembrance. It is a river, this language, Once in a thousand years Breaking a new course Changing its way to the ocean. It is mountain effluvia Moving to valleys And from nation to nation Crossing borders and mixing. Languages die like rivers. Words wrapped round your tongue today And broken to shape of thought Between your teeth and lips speaking Now and today Shall be faded hieroglyphics Ten thousand years from now. Sing-and singing-remember Your song dies and changes And is not here tomorrow Any more than the wind Blowing ten thousand years ago The first three lines of the poem talk about how man has no firm grip on language. It is clearly not a physical thing to be grasped, and it cannot be marked as such. There is an attachment between men and language, but it is not clear. This may be a statement on the many different languages humans speak. It may not be clear when a language has completely changed into something different, or when it is merely a different dialect. It is hard to tell where the boundaries are, which is why it is described as having no handles for men to take hold of and mark it with signs for its remembrance. These difficulties arise because exactly what makes a language is difficult to determine. Sometimes it can be... ...guage dies. In its entirety, this poem describes how a language can evolve or die, and how things said in this language can change or die with it. Boundaries between languages may not be clear. Like rivers they can travel close together, or merge completely. All languages, however, act as rivers. They start at a source and travel. They then travel, merge, or fade away. Upon closer examination, the poem also says why languages are difficult to label. The reason is that they change with time. The English language of today is not the same English language spoken hundreds of years ago. As all languages evolve similarly, this applies to all languages. Subtle changes in gestures, writing, or spoken language eventually add up. After a long enough period of time it is as though an entirely new language has formed, but kept the same name as the previous language.

Organizational Behavior Issues in Aussieco Essay
Aussieco, an Australian company established as a small manufacturing and service operation company in 1962 is now a fully expanded company with 600 employees. The company built its reputation on a single product holding 90 per cent of the Australian market in the 1980. Over the years the market holding has gone down by 30 percent in spite of the product being unique and company facing little competition in the market (Jones,Gal, n. d) The downturn in Aussiecoââ¬â¢s performance is mainly due to issues with the companyââ¬â¢s management and organizational behavior. Organizational Behavior refers to ââ¬Ëthe understanding, prediction and management of human behavior in organizationsââ¬â¢ (Luthans,2010). It is the study of individuals and their behavior in a work place. A companyââ¬â¢s performance and outcome largely depends on its organizational behavior as it is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication and management. Aussiecoââ¬â¢s organizational behavior issues can be explained through Henri Fayolââ¬â¢s 14 management principles. Henri Fayolââ¬â¢s theory of administration and organizational behavior focuses on the personal duties of management and managerial effectiveness which aussieco lacked. (Fayol,1971). The company has inexperienced staff and no specialization as major high authority staff is friends and family without skilled knowledge. The executive managing director is the ownerââ¬â¢s nephew with no practical or industrial experience. The production supervisor is the production managerââ¬â¢s best friend who has little knowledge of the daily production tasks as he is a carpet fitter by qualification. Employees at the operative level are migrant labor mostly lacking formal qualification. On diversification, management failed to understand the changing market needs. Aussieco follows the power culture where control is centralized. The major motivational or driving force is fear (Luthans,2011). Suggestions and personal preferences are not welcomed. The owner-chairman reacts in a strong negative way if any managerââ¬â¢s opinion differentiates from his. This lack of consultation leads to staff feeling de motivated and undervalued. Though there has been division of labor and departmentalization in the company but the managers lack authority and responsibility. On the instance of owner accepting order from a bad debt customer without consulting the general manager shows lack of authority for the manager. Ownerââ¬â¢s dictatorial attitude and ignorance of modern trends hold back the dedicated managers to improve and bring changes in the companyââ¬â¢s working, as they are either fired from the job or become his instant enemies. The company lacks discipline and employee commitment. Lack of loyalty, no willingness to put high levels of effort, no belief in the companyââ¬â¢s goals and vales and lack of faith in the management all together leads to all the issues of Aussieco. During lunch hours the senior management and sales staff have access to unlimited alcohol in the workplace. Assembly line workers underperform and hold back production with vague excuses. Subordination of individual interest over the companyââ¬â¢s interest and goal is one of the major problems of Aussieco Employees overtime to get paid extra and not for productive outcomes. Also the senior programmer in spite of completing his work order uses his work holiday for personal matters. There is lack of equity and justice among the employees. The rule being everyone must vacate office during lunch break but exceptions for the senior management and sales staff that eat in the work place, operatives and other staff are allowed no food or drinks in the workplace. The migrant staff is treated well and better than its own internal staff. There are less internal promotions. High employee turnover, no stability of tenure of personnel is another major issue with Aussieco. To attain maximum productivity of personnel it is essential to have a stable workforce, which Aussieco lacks. There are frequent mass resignations in the company. No production manager lasts for more than 3 years in the company. The post of personnel manager is vacant since 2 months. Employees have no job security and thus are not fully committed to their work. This further increases the companyââ¬â¢s costs of recruitment, selection and training. There is lack of motivation and initiative by the management for the welfare of the employees. There is lack of rewards, appraisal and bonus. The workshop roofs are without insulation and leak during heavy rain, no doors and filthy windows point toward bad and unhealthy working conditions. This even gave a loss of $AUS 500,000 when water leakage blew a computerized robot. No parking area provided for the employees, who reach frustrated to the office, which in turn shows in their slow performance. Lack of structured work, irregularity in work and no proper accounts and records maintained by the managers is another organizational issue for Aussieco. Though the record showed a stock of 4700 resistors but none could be located. A welder forgotten by the company after fitting of new automat is idle and has no contribution in the company. Reasons why these problems occur. One of the major reason for the organizational issues of aussieco is the employee attitude. Job satisfaction focuses on employee attitude and organizational commitment focuses on their attitude towards the organization. Job satisfaction is determined by how well the expectations of employees are met in return of their output (Luthans,2011). The aspects of job satisfication are not met by Aussieco. Employees of Aussieco are unsatisfied with the kind of work they get, the job provides less opportunities for learning and less responsibility. There is lack of remuneration and pay, less promotional opportunities, bad working conditions. This high level of job dissatisfaction of employees reflects in their low performance, companyââ¬â¢s low profits, high employee turnover, high absenteeism and low level of commitment towards the company. The attitude of employees in an organization is largely influenced by the kind of environment the organization posses and further the attitude of employees affects their efficiency and performance at the organizational level. The environment of aussieco is not employee friendly thus employees have a negative attitude. Employee traits can be best explained by the Five factor model. Job performance is highly dependent on an individualââ¬â¢s conscientiousness (i. e dutifulness, persistence, industriousness) and emotional stability (i. anxiety, security, suspiciousness). In Aussieco employees had low conscientiousness and low emotional stability which affected their overall task performance and contextual performance. Organizational commitment is an important attitude toward the employers and the company. It is the extent to which we identify with them. Most of the employees, possesââ¬â¢ continuance organizational commitment, which is a calculative approach, where they chose to continue working in the company because they ââ¬Ëhave toââ¬â¢ rather than their want or obligation. This attitude is influenced by perceived costs of leaving the company, lack of opportunities, age, peer pressure, society expectations etc. Employees of Aussieco developed this attitude because of the mechanistic treatment they receive and lack of empathy from management. Autocracy is the concentration of power and authority in hands of one person. The management of Aussieco has an autocratic structure with the owner having unlimited power and absolute authority. There is a strict hierarchical structure; orders are sent from top level to bottom level. Ideas, personal opinions and suggestions are unwelcomed. In this management style managers believe workers must be controlled to ensure maximum productivity (Luthans,2011). Aussiecoââ¬â¢s structure can be best explained by Douglas McGregorââ¬â¢s theory X. This theory represents an assumption of conflicting and negative working attitudes. The managers assume an average person dislikes work and will avoid it if possible, thus must be forced with threat of punishment to achieve organizational goals. An average person prefers to be directed and avoids responsibility. This approach encourages deadline and ultimatums, arrogant and demanding managers, mechanistic approach, no concern toward staff and one way communication (Jeremiah,2009). In Aussieco this approach resulted in a negative attitude by the employees, made them insecure and unhappy. Lack of Taylorââ¬â¢s scientific management. Frederik winslow taylorââ¬â¢s key idea was to improve industrial efficiency scientifically. He encouraged scientifically selecting and training workers and regularly monitoring their work to improve efficiency which also improves work man happiness and positivity (Lynch,1984). Aussieco lacked scientific selection, training and development of workmen and passively left them to train themselves. Managers did not supervise and provide instructions to the employees and there was no division of work between managers and workers. There was lack of specialization, standardized and systematic approach. The company continuously changed its suppliers for cheapest material available, a supplier providing 99. 5% quality level charging $20 per unit was replaced with a supplier charging $12per unit. The quality of the product suffered, increasing customer complaints and affecting the goodwill of the company negatively. There is lack of communication between departments, department managers and workers and senior management and managers. The senior management is unapproachable and not interested in the issues of the company and workers. Though Taylorism has faced criticism of exploitation, mechanistic approach etc but in relation to Aussieco, the company needs to adapt certain principles of Taylorism for a better organizational working. To conclude Ausseicoââ¬â¢s major issue is organizational and management structure. The company should have a more humanistic and realistic approach with a right balance of authority and responsibility.

Victors and Vanquished Essay - 1412 Words
Victors and Vanquished The history of the Western hemisphere is full of war and conquest. One of the most significant and defining of those conquests is the downfall of the Mexica/Aztec Empire. While there are many other events to choose from, this one stands out since it was one over one of the largest empires in Central America. It is also important to look at because of the immense cultural impact it had. The story of this takeover reads like a movie script, a small band of Spaniards single handedly takes down the most powerful empire in Central America. Cortezs first encounters with the natives in Central Mexico gave him crucial information about a large wea lthy nation that was further inland. While still on the coast representatives from this nation canoed out to Cortez, which officially started relations between Spain and the Aztecs. Among many things given to the Spaniards during the first few days of contact with the Aztecs was a large chest of gold figures along many other expensive things. This gesture of good will by the Aztecs would eventually lead to their downfall. The moment Cortez started receiving all these wonderful items his mind was most likely made up that he would do whatever it took to plunder every valuable item of the Aztec kingdom. As Cortez gradually moved deeper into Aztec territory he steadily received more gifts from the Aztecs and from other city-states that surrounded Tenochtitlan. Each time Montezuma requested for Cortez and the Spaniards to return back to the coast and conduct meetings and trade from there. However, with each gift received just gave Cortez additional incentive to move towards Tenochtitlan. By the time the Spaniards were in Tenochtitlan the Aztecs saw their true colors and it was too late.
